Originally opened in 2015, Rosso Pizza & Bar was taken over in March 2023 by The Big Red Group who also own the successful restaurants Red Grill House, and Tinto Tapas & Wine.
Situated on the picturesque harbour in St Peter Port, Guernsey, Rosso serves authentic Italian food including their famous wood-fired pizzas and offers a great range of wine and original Rosso cocktails.
A popular restaurant with both locals and tourists, Rosso is a family-favourite which prides itself on bringing a touch of Mediterranean flair to the small island of Guernsey.
The Project
It was decided, in 2024, that Rosso needed a fresh new look, so they closed for five weeks to redecorate, refurnish and revamp. The team wanted to bring the restaurant interior up to date with a look that was more aligned with the venue’s relaxed, Italian vibe.
This involved repainting walls and updating the décor, looking at the layout and flow of the restaurant and changing the majority of the furniture.
The Challenges & Requirements
The team at Big Red Group wanted Rosso Pizza & Bar to feel relaxed and informal whilst maintaining a sense of warmth and the effortless style that the Italians are renowned for. They were after a look that was light and airy and brought ‘the outside in’, evoking a feeling of sitting on a sun-drenched terrace, whatever the weather.
They had in mind the furniture they wanted – something chic and elegant with an element of rattan to suggest outdoor living but not be a throwback to the 1970s. Chairs and tables specifically designed for commercial use were a must, as furniture in a busy restaurant sees a lot of use, so needed to be strong, durable and easy to keep clean – after all, pizza can sometimes be a messy affair!
Finding the right products proved to be tricky at first, but once the team had discovered Eclipse Furniture it was plain sailing! They were thrilled with the service they received from account manager Shannon, whose great communication included video tours of the showroom, furniture recommendations and product samples.

The Products
The team were instantly drawn to our Marcelo collection, the beautifully crafted light oak frames of the Side Chairs and Bar Stools have been ergonomically designed with curved seats and backs, and are available with a Natural Cane Back option. They found the rattan that they were looking for and loved the style of the seating so much that they chose to add in the solid wood version to the mix.

They chose the Marcelo Bar Stools to complement the existing long, high table which can seat up to 14 people and was a beloved feature of the restaurant. Tables made from our Solid Oak Table Tops and Auto Adjust Table Bases with their bistro styling were the perfect addition to the Marcelo Chairs, creating a light and relaxed dining area. Even better, the clever technology on the Auto Adjust Bases means the tables will automatically adjust on any surface, remaining stable and making sure none of those delicious Rosso cocktails get spilt!
The Result
The renovated interior of Rosso Pizza & Bar is quite simply stunning! The team achieved the light and airy look they were after with walls painted in buttery tones and stripped back sections showing the original stonework. The giant lemon tree in the centre of the long table adds a splash of Mediterranean sunshine and the shades of light wood that run through the restaurant add warmth and texture.
The initial desire for rattan has been achieved with the Marcelo seating, and this has been echoed in the rattan lampshades that hang above the bar.
Interest is created by different zones and levels, a mixture of high tables with bar stools, lower tables with chairs looking out onto the harbour and a cosy bar area provide a choice of seating options for discerning customers.
The team are delighted with the results, and we can see why! They’ve had amazing feedback and are confident that the new look will attract a whole range of new customers.
