The Chairman's Club
Gloucester Rugby is a professional rugby union club who play in the Premier Division of the game. They were founded over 150 years ago, and since 1891 have played their home matches at Kingsholm Stadium in the north of the city.
Gloucester Rugby is a hugely popular club, filling the stadium on match days and making hospitality an important source of revenue for the business. When the game isn’t being played, Kingsholm Stadium also offers itself as a premier venue hire facility, providing a unique setting for events of all kinds.
The Project
Launched in September 2024, the Chairman’s Club is Gloucester Rugby's newest offering, providing a multi-year membership to the exclusive lounge at Kingsholm Stadium complete with private bar, bespoke food and heated balcony seats.
The relaxed and luxurious environment of the Chairman’s Club was conceptualised by Gloucester based White Box Interiors, who specialise in delivering high-quality fit-out and refurbishment projects for the retail, leisure, and commercial sectors.
The Challenges & Requirements
Ben Avery, Events & Hospitality Manager of Gloucester Rugby, approached us looking for high-end commercial armchairs as well as stylish and durable table bases to complement tabletops that had already been purchased.
The key requirements from Ben were to find premium commercial furniture, preferably from a local company, that could give the new Chairman’s Club a bespoke look. As a hospitality venue, versatility, durability and affordability were all important criteria when sourcing furniture, as well as finding a company that could be trusted to deliver and had great customer service.
The armchairs needed to enhance the luxurious feel of the club room, whilst the table bases needed to be sleek and stylish yet strong and sturdy.
The Products

Ben opted for sixteen of our Zanuso Armchairs in genuine pecan brown leather, the Art Deco style chair with fluted inner seat and backrest is both comfortable and supportive, whilst the strong iron metal frame has an antique gold finish which pairs beautifully with the warm tones of the leather. The Zanuso Armchairs were chosen as a lower alternative to the existing bar stools, offering a variety of seating options.
To complement the armchairs, four sets of Axel Table Bases in Black were purchased to support the existing brown tabletops. Also chosen were four of the Auto Adjust Poseur Table Bases in Black. These innovative cast iron bases use FLAT technology which helps to stabilise the table and align the tabletop, ensuring a non-wobbly table base. Perfect for keeping everything level, even when Gloucester have just scored a try!
The Result
The final look of the Chairman’s Club is stylish and sophisticated, with a classic foundation of traditional décor using a palette of heritage colours, textures and furniture styles. The club room feels inviting, warm and luxurious – a nod to traditional interiors, but has been brought up to date with beautiful blue-grey walls, a light herringbone wooden floor and accents of gold throughout.
Events & Hospitality Manager, Ben Avery, is thrilled with the results and the quality of the furniture from Eclipse. The venue is a great mixture of relaxed and formal seating that makes the most of the space. According to Ben, the ambience of the interior has meant that membership to the Chairman’s Club has already sold out.
The team are so pleased with the furniture, they’re already planning on revamping several other hospitality spaces within the stadium, improving the look of the club and capitalising on the revenue that hiring out their venues can bring.
