With the past two Christmas seasons being affected by coronavirus, it’s no surprise that Christmas parties are expected to come back with a bang this year. And – with the budget to spend thanks to two winters party-free – venues are receiving more bookings than ever, despite having to raise their prices due to the current struggles they face with rising stock and running costs. It’s certainly not an easy position to be in, and they’re all doing an admirable job of continuing to serve their customers.

So, what does this mean for your venue? Undoubtedly, this demand for office and family Christmas parties will lead to a demand on your facilities too. Although this is fantastic news for revenue, it’s important to make sure you’re ready for this increased traffic and that your venue can withstand it.

Depending on your space and how you want it to function, we see two main options on how to ensure a suitable setup. Let’s discuss the pros and cons of both:

Large Dining Setups

The first thing that often springs to mind when you think of a Christmas gathering is a huge table with plenty of chairs around it. These setups create a very sociable dining experience for customers, and the large table surface can be easily decorated and arranged for the festive season. We love to dress up our 180×70 oak tabletops, particularly during the festive season! This tabletop pairs extremely well with the Double Cross Dining Base.

However, large tables have the disadvantage of being much less flexible; parties can be of varying sizes, and if you rely on large table setups you may end up with wasted space, not maximising your venue and its revenue potential.

What’s the alternative?

Flexible Dining

What might make the most sense this time of year is to establish a dining space that is made up of smaller dining tables that can be extended and broken up to suit any group size.

Now, there are things to consider with this option too. Small tables joined together don’t create the same cohesive dining environment for large groups, especially if the tables cross an uneven patch of floor or don’t line up exactly – spilling drinks easily!

Well, here at Eclipse, we’ve got you covered there, too. We are an exclusive seller of FLAT self-stabilising products which prevent tables from being compromised by uneven floors, and even auto-align the tabletops for a seamless result. This means no more broken glasses, and no more beer matts under table legs!

Already got a perfectly level floor? No worries, we also have our range of Extrema and Enduratop tabletops which can be used with a variety of restaurant table bases – including FLAT. Both ranges are available in a variety of shapes, sizes and designs, meaning we’ll always have something to perfectly suit the aesthetic you’re looking for.

It’s never too early to start thinking about Christmas. People want their Christmas menus now. They want to know what they’re booking, and they want to tie it down. Therefore, it’s best to decide on your approach now and stick to it! Then you can get to the fun stuff of printing Christmas menus, thinking up festive cocktails and choosing table decorations…
